Carol and Pauls Hogarths Wedding - Birmingham Wedding Photographer

When I met Carol and Paul, it couldn't have been a better day to have met them, personally speaking.. They are a true testament to the fact that love can happen at any point and time in your life...and on this day, at Hogarths Solihull, , 17 years on, it was finally time for them to tie the knot. Their family and friends will understand this sentiment exactly - cheers and whistles during their outdoor ceremony, I get the impression they had been waiting for this day a long ti

I'm so glad I took my camera

I've just been transported through looking back at my personal photos, so much so that I've dedicated a small section on my website to them. I am so glad I took them. Even when I considered having a ‘day off’, I still took my camera (often my 35mm Minolta film camera). What I have now, is a visual record of places I’ve been, trips I’ve taken, parties I’ve been to. Even when there was nothing to document - just that was still worth documenting. What could have easily been

Lola Love - Documentary Family Photography

Your small fingers with their peely skin, the softness of your hair behind your ear, the tiny noises you make when we don't expect it. Everthing about this little lady is so perfect. No photoshopping, no posing, just you as you, the way you are right now. Documentary family photography starts with what is happening right now. It doesn't interfere, its really a bystander to the main event, watching and recording. As a photographer, there is an element of constructing and compo

Annelise & Ricky - Warwick Register Office Wedding Photography

As the saying goes... 'life is like a box of chocolates, you never know which one you're gonna get next' (yes, Forrest Gump is without a doubt one of the signalments greatest philosophers of modern day). If you were to ask Annelise if Ricky was the one she was going to marry upon their first meeting, I can assure you Ricky knew something she didn't. Yet, here they are a couple of years on, totally in love and getting hitched at Warwick Register Office. Their afternoon meal wa

    You are my inspiration

YOU ARE MY INSPIRATION As a photographer, wedding photography in particular puts you in good stead for pretty much any other type of photography job. I can’t think of any other commission whereby the variables change so quickly and you have to be ready. Not only ready but the expectation is to produce your best work every time. The weather, the lighting, the guests, the couples, the venue staff, the timings, the group shots, the locations - all need to be photographed in th

Esther and Desmond - Birmingham Engagement Photography

What an amazing thing to get booked by a couple who put just as much energy and enthusiasm into their engagement shoot as you do. I was in my element - it was all about fun and our adventures around Birmingham - the places that hold significance to Esther and Desmond. Its traditional in Singapore to wear your wedding outfits for an engagement shoot, something I was quite surprised by when Esthers initial enquiry came through. I'm embarrassed to admit that it wasn't until we a

HAPPY HOURS AND PRINCESS SOPHIE'S VISIT

Sometimes I struggle to call my corporate photography work 'corporate' because in all honesty, it couldn't be further from the truth. I'm really happy to be able to share this blog post with you and I hope you appreciate the brilliant enthusiasm and work ethic of the individuals working voluntarily at this club, in order to make events like this happen. I am so privileged to be working with some fantastic services and charities, but am very aware that I often get booked for d

    Simpson Family Lifestyle Shoot

This family are just so cute and so photogenic it hurts! I loved working with the Simpson Family again after photographing Maddie's Chritening back in November. Their lifestyle shoot took place at their house over in Clent, and the house itself was beautiful, rustic and open. Perfect for a lifestyle shoot. Maddie is such a happy baby and some of these smiley shots warm my heart and I cant resist smiling too when I look at them. It was so lovely to capture these moments in a y

    Foley Family Lifestyle Shoot

You probably don't remember, but back in October I ran a small newsletter and Facebook competition to win a 'Couples Lifestyle Shoot'. The aim was to find a couple who were really keen for me to document their relationship, their lives and how they live it together. I wanted to capture something real, touching and ultimately their love as they expereince it every day. Well, I was blown away by some of the responses I recieved and I'm sure Tracey wont mind me sharing hers with

    Madeleine-Chloe's Christening

Baby takeover! It was such a pleasure to photograph Maddie's Christening. The family and guests started off at St.John The Baptist Church in Hagley for the ceremony and then held a beautiful marquee reception tea at Elizabethan Grafton Manor Hotel. Grafton's reception marque looked lovely with balloons, a tiered cupcake stand and ofcourse loads more cute babies and young families. There was a lot of love in that marquee! Thanks Pete and Erica for looking after me so well, I'm

Ruben and Julie - Birmingham Documentary Photography

A little while ago, I started a personal project photographing people working in Health and Social Care sector, in particular, those who work as a carer. Having worked as a carer myself, I am interested by the similarities, but also the differences of people working this kind of job. The care workers project is on-going, but it has also spawned another project, working and photographing children with disability and additional needs. I was introduced to Ruben and Julie through

AMY AND MATT - St.Alphege Church and Hampton Manor Wedding Photography

What a beautiful wedding! Officially the wettest day of the year for Amy and Matt, but if anything they embraced it and it made for wonderful photos. I was asked by Silverstar Photographic to help out on their wedding, as Michelle and Rich from Silverstar were then expecting (and now have) a beautiful baby boy! Thanks for having me along Silverstar and congratulations on your new arrival. Amy and Matt were such a pleasure to be around, so kind and friendly, there was so much

SUMMERTIME (and the livin' is easy) - Edgbaston Photo Shoot

It took me a while to think of a name for this shoot. Then slowly, as I worked on the edit, I began to hear Ella Fitzgerald's timeless classic 'Summertime' in my head. It feels apt to have a timeless song for a timeless beauty - may I present Alice once again. This time she is at home in her Fathers in Edgbaston. Having left everything till the last minute - we pushed ourselves to dream up ideas for our mini shoot upon arriving at the house. Myself, Stephanie Alice and Carol

BIRMINGHAM REP MURDER MYSTERY GALA DINNER

This 1920's themed REP event was truly fabulous, right up my street. The REP have produced a press realease for the event, so I will waste no time in directing you to their write-up. There are more photos on the REP website, but here are a few details for now: 'The fundraising gala dinner was held at The REP in Centenary Square with the theatre’s vast set construction workshop dramatically transformed into a 1920’s Jazz Club and a three-course dinner served on the theatre’s m

    THE INBETWEENERS

I love second shooting weddings for many reasons, but the main one is that I get to have fun, capturing details without the sole responsibility of wedding photography on my shoulders. Second shooting for those of you that aren't 'tog boffins is shooting as support for the main photographer - who in this case was John Charlton. This blog post is about the inbetweeners (often my favourite shots, even when its my own wedding). The shots between the shots. They are so great becau

    THE HILLS FAMILY PHOTO SHOOT

Ah man this shoot was fun! The Hill family are just so lovely and super happy to have the experience of my Specialist Portraiture Package. Mom Jo was so excited when she found out she was the winner of my Specialist Portraiture package - ran in conjunction with Undiagnosed Day 2015. Her son is a member of SWAN (Sydromes Without A Name) and so they regularly attend the SWAN meet-ups as a family. He is so cool, so energetic and a real comedian. Mom Jo said about the shoot: "OMG

Dumbleton Hall is pretty spectactular and what better place to have a traditional white wedding for Paul and Kelly. I was employed by Workhorse Weddings to shoot their big day and it was such a pleasure. Seeing how in love Paul and Kelly were bought everything together - Kelly was one excited bride! There was lots of love, friendship and laughter all around which made photographing for a few hours them all the more fun. Here's to your future Paul and Kelly! #relaxedphotograph

PAUL AND FRANCESCO - Birmingham REP Wedding

What a beautiful wedding. Love and friendship at every corner. Laughter, tears, celebration and style pouring out at the Birmingham REP. Being such an international affair, the selection of friends and family each bought not only a selection of languages, but also the gift of love from around the world - what an amazing mix. When we initially met to discuss wedding photos, the couple just wanted candid photos. No posing, just lots of happines and joy. I knew we would be a goo

    HIT THE STREETS

London can easily swallow you up. Even after years, the average Londoner is still very aware that his or her lifestyle, exciting as it is, comes at a price they eventually question its sustainability. Something that gets me every time I visit, is the incredible rate of consumption my friends go through day-to-day. Consumption not in an environmental sense, more in the way they think, move and obtain information. They live one day to the next. Living and visiting London, you h
